MotoCMS 3.0 Features and Improvements

The main cause for joy is responsive design of all MotoCMS 3.0 templates. The major and pretty the only drawback of a previous MotoCMS version was its static design that was hard to fit into mobile screens. Today new version comes responsive out of the box supporting all three major breakpoints – desktop, tablet and smartphone (portrait and landscape modes). You can check your website look for these devices right in your browser with a help of special icons on top of the admin panel.

Of course, it’s almost impossible to fit sizes of all modern devices (e.g. iPad and Google Nexus have different screen resolutions and side proportions). With MotoCMS 3.0 you can set up spacing values for each breakpoint right from the admin panel. By setting Small, Medium and Large values for each breakpoint in the Sizes & Values section you set these values across the entire website. Thus, you don’t need to manually set up spacing around the image or button block on every page. You just choose a “small” or “medium” value from the drop-down window – an voila, it’s done!

One of the revolutionary features of a new MotoCMS is its unique Color Picker. This small widget has great powers for website tweaking. As you know, every website design has its own color palette that makes it so special. Sometimes it’s hard to change any of its colors without ruining the entire idea, especial for people with poor knowledge of color theory. Color Picker should become a handy tool for color aficionados and for color theory newcomers. It not just shows main five colors of a template color palette with five additional sub-tones for each one (thus, you have 25 hues to work with). When you change one color of the default ones it will be applied to all elements of such type across the entire website. Comfy, right? no need to set up color for each button or header on every page. One click and all buttons or headers have one style.

Similar approach is chosen for Text Styles. Default text styles can be changes in the the Text Style section of the Design Options panel. here you can choose another font for different types of web text, set up its line, spacing, style, color etc. The changes will be applied to the text of that type all over your template. You cannot add custom fonts (at least not yet), but you can choose among multiple Google web fonts that are used within MotoCMS 3.0.

Media Library was also significantly improved. Now it offers a great files management structure that allows creating folders to keep your photos, images and videos perfectly organized. You can keep your files in preset folders for each page of the template, or add as many other folders as you wish. The only restriction is for subfolders – not more than five for each folder. It should help you not to get confused with too many levels, folders and files.

As for its functionality, Media library now supports video integration with two the most popular video services – YouTube and Vimeo. Adding video to your website is just a snap. Grid Gallery and Image Slider widgets will help you showcasing your visual content at its best. MotoCMS 3.0 supports HTML and JS animation, so you can make your website even more appealing to your visitors.

As you could notice, loading speed is one of the main characteristic of a successful website. All MotoCMS 3.0 templates can make Flash Gordon jealous since their performance is lightning fast. So you can have no fear about Google penalties and losing customers.

Speaking about Google and other search engines, we should note that MotoCMS offers a really SEO-friendly service. Unlike other website builders that narrow optimization features to page-level customization (page title, Meta description, slug,keywords) and Google Analytics integration, MotoCMS allows optimizing other content, including images (title, name, ALT-tag). You can even set “no-index” and “no-follow” tags to your pages, if necessary. Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools can be easily integrated within your website as well.
